• The next-generation 2025 Ford Expedition has just been unveiled.
The Ford Expedition is approaching 30 years old, but Ford didn’t wait for it to celebrate its three decades on the market before giving it a major overhaul. Indeed, the current model, launched for 2018 and refreshed in 2022, has been completely redesigned for the upcoming year.

Versions of the 2025 Ford Expedition
First of all, know that the Expedition will still be available in standard or extended configuration, with the latter model adopting the Max suffix. The SUV continues to be designed for large families, with its configuration accommodating up to eight people.
In fact, the product refresh was done in partnership with customers. Ford mentions having spent over 1100 hours engaging with them to understand their daily needs. It is with this gathered information that the utility vehicle has been redesigned.
The new Expedition will be available in four distinct versions: Active, Platinum, King Ranch, and Tremor.
Design of the 2025 Ford Expedition
Aesthetically, the Expedition has been redesigned, but it is easily recognizable. At the rear, the striking feature is the Ford Split Gate, which is a split tailgate that sees the upper part open in a conventional way, while the lower part folds down to provide easy access to the cargo space. The approach is not new. One can see it notably with the BMW X5. From the outside, the clear break can be seen, adding a distinctive element to the style.
Knowing that many will use their model for outdoor activities, Ford even adds an outdoor lighting feature by zones. This option offers four lighted zones around the vehicle, which is ideal when night falls.
All of this can be controlled through the new multimedia system of the model.
Interior Features
Inside, the 2025 Ford Expedition offers the Ford Digital Experience interface. This system allows drivers and passengers to connect to their favorite apps through customizable profiles, while enjoying Google or Amazon Alexa’s intuitive voice assistant capabilities. A 24-inch panoramic screen dominates the presentation.
For highway trips, the BlueCruise system, now offered with 90% of Expedition versions, offers hands-free driving with additional features such as assisted lane changes and lane repositioning.
The system is advancing, but remains less comprehensive compared to those offered by Tesla and General Motors.
Engine of the 2025 Ford Expedition
The 2025 Ford Expedition is still equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque with the Active, King Ranch, and Platinum versions. In the case of the Tremor model, designed for off-road adventures, it features a high-performance version of this engine under the hood, offering 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission connects to the wheels.
The 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor Version
The Tremor version offers something extra for outdoor enthusiasts with a ground clearance of 10.6 inches, the best in its class according to Ford, as well as 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. It also features F-150 truck-specific equipment such as steps and under-vehicle protection plates.
As for towing capacity, it is 9600 pounds maximum with the appropriate equipment. The model is also equipped with various towing assists offered by the company, technologies that make such operations child’s play.
The 2025 Ford Expedition can be ordered starting on October 24. The first deliveries of the model will take place in the spring of 2025.
