Il est utilis\u00e9 avec le nickel dans la cathode des batteries et repr\u00e9sente environ le quart du co\u00fbt total d\u2019une batterie. Le Cobalt fait aussi l\u2019objet d\u2019un grave inconfort pour les droits de l\u2019homme. Deux tiers de tout le cobalt se trouvent dans des mines de la R\u00e9publique D\u00e9mocratique du Congo o\u00f9 perdure une guerre civile depuis des d\u00e9cennies qui sont financ\u00e9es par les grandes mines pour l\u2019acc\u00e8s aux droits des pr\u00e9cieuses terres qui renferme le cobalt. On fait travailler de jeunes enfants de force dans des conditions inacceptables pour avoir du cobalt dans les voitures et les t\u00e9l\u00e9phones intelligents.<\/p>\n<h3>Demande qui augmente en fl\u00e8che<\/h3>\n<p>Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 tout r\u00e9cemment, ce sont les petits appareils \u00e9lectroniques qui alimentaient la demande de cobalt parce que de nombreuses petites batteries ont toujours besoin d&#8217;une cathode et d&#8217;une anode dans chacune d&#8217;elles. Une batterie de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone n&#8217;a pas besoin d&#8217;autant de mat\u00e9riaux qu&#8217;une batterie de voiture \u00e9lectrique ou hybride, mais d&#8217;un autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, on fabrique beaucoup plus de t\u00e9l\u00e9phones, de sorte que la diff\u00e9rence est une question de volume. Il y a environ 15 milliards d&#8217;appareils mobiles dans le monde, contre 7,2 millions de voitures \u00e9lectriques.<\/p>\n<h3>P\u00e9nurie d\u00e9j\u00e0 en cours<\/h3>\n<p>Le Financial Times rapporte que 176\u00a0370 tonnes de cobalt ont \u00e9t\u00e9 produites en 2021.
