Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la NHTSA, les plaintes de consommateurs explosent, et la grogne est devenue virale sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux.<\/p>\n<h3>Les chiffres parlent d\u2019eux-m\u00eames :<\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>anciennes ampoules halog\u00e8nes : environ 1 000 lumens<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>phares DEL d\u2019origine r\u00e9cents : jusqu\u2019\u00e0 4 000 lumens et plus<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>certains phares DEL du march\u00e9 secondaire : 10 000 lumens et davantage<\/li>\n<p>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nLe hic? Les normes encadrant la luminosit\u00e9 des phares n\u2019ont pratiquement pas chang\u00e9 depuis 1986. Depuis septembre 2021, les v\u00e9hicules neufs vendus au Canada doivent avoir des feux de jour automatiques, ou les feux arri\u00e8re\/de position lat\u00e9raux s&#8217;allument avec les feux de jour, ou un indicateur de tableau de bord for\u00e7ant l&#8217;allumage des phares.<\/p>\n<h3>Des failles r\u00e9glementaires qui favorisent l\u2019abus<\/h3>\n<p>\nLa norme am\u00e9ricaine FMVSS 108 date essentiellement de 1986, avec un ajout tardif en 2022 pour permettre les phares adaptatifs (ADB). La NHTSA n\u2019a pas men\u00e9 d\u2019enqu\u00eate majeure sur l\u2019\u00e9blouissement depuis 2003.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00e9sultat : les constructeurs peuvent augmenter massivement la luminosit\u00e9 globale tant qu\u2019ils respectent certaines zones d\u2019ombre d\u00e9finies \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e8re de l\u2019halog\u00e8ne. Les DEL, combin\u00e9es \u00e0 des syst\u00e8mes optiques tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis, permettent de concentrer la lumi\u00e8re l\u00e0 o\u00f9 la r\u00e9glementation est muette, tout en maximisant les scores de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l\u2019IIHS.<\/p>\n<h3>Un probl\u00e8me mondial\u2026 mais peu d\u2019actions<\/h3>\n<p>\nL\u2019\u00e9blouissement caus\u00e9 par les phares est d\u00e9nonc\u00e9 partout dans le monde. Le Royaume-Uni exigera des phares adaptatifs sur tous les v\u00e9hicules neufs apr\u00e8s d\u00e9cembre 2025. En Europe, la technologie ADB est permise depuis 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Aux \u00c9tats-Unis, elle n\u2019est autoris\u00e9e que depuis 2022, et peu de fabricants l\u2019utilisent \u00e0 cause de r\u00e8glements contradictoires \u2014 \u00e0 l\u2019exception notable de Rivian.<\/p>\n<h3>Moins de lumens, plus de gros bon sens<\/h3>\n<p>\nTrois mesures simples pourraient freiner cette d\u00e9rive :<\/p>\n<ol><\/p>\n<li>Mettre \u00e0 jour la norme 108 avec une limite claire de luminosit\u00e9 maximale pour les phares DEL.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Exiger une v\u00e9rification de l\u2019alignement des phares lors des inspections de v\u00e9hicules.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Interdire la vente de phares DEL de rechange trop puissants pour usage routier.<\/li>\n<p>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\nLa fondation Soft Lights Foundation a d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9colt\u00e9 plus de 77 000 signatures pour r\u00e9clamer une intervention f\u00e9d\u00e9rale.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>\nOn a su r\u00e9glementer les \u00e9missions polluantes et les syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avec intelligence.
