Pas GMC. Pourtant, la marque de camion de GM nous en a propos\u00e9 un particulier en 1955, un de plus singulier de l\u2019histoire de la compagnie.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>On fait ici r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 L\u2019Universelle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> La particularit\u00e9 de ce v\u00e9hicule, outre son design compl\u00e8tement fly\u00e9, c\u2019est qu\u2019il proposait une configuration \u00e0 traction. Si cette derni\u00e8re a connu ses heures de gloire \u00e0 partir du d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es\u00a080, elle n\u2019\u00e9tait pas tr\u00e8s courante avant, et surtout dans les ann\u00e9es\u00a050. Voil\u00e0 qui rendait L\u2019Universelle unique.<\/p>\n<p> Le GMC L\u2019Universelle \u00e9tait en fait concept radical \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque. Outre sa configuration, le v\u00e9hicule \u00e9tait hautement configurable et pouvait r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 un large \u00e9ventail de fonctions sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p> Le vice-pr\u00e9sident de General Motors \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, Philip Monaghan, avait d\u00e9clar\u00e9 ceci \u00e0 propos de ce v\u00e9hicule\u00a0: \u00ab\u2009Bien que le design de base de L\u2019Universelle soit pens\u00e9 pour la livraison, des modifications mineures peuvent la transformer en un petit autobus, en v\u00e9hicule taxi, en familiale ou en grande routi\u00e8re.\u2009\u00bb<\/p>\n<p> Le design avait \u00e9t\u00e9 supervis\u00e9 par le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Harley Earl, ainsi que Charles Jordan qui a ensuite dirig\u00e9 le d\u00e9partement de design de Cadillac.
