Ce ne sera pas tout \u00e0 fait le cas si on se fie \u00e0 des donn\u00e9es qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 partag\u00e9es la semaine derni\u00e8re durant de la <em>North American International Propulsion Conference<\/em> de la SAE.<\/p>\n<p>En fait, il existe deux raisons pour lesquelles on peut pr\u00e9dire avec une certaine assurance qu\u2019il y aura encore des autos \u00e0 essence sur la route en 2101.<\/p>\n<p>La premi\u00e8re est purement scientifique\u00a0: on ne peut jamais prouver un n\u00e9gatif. Il est impossible de pr\u00e9dire hors de tout doute qu\u2019on ne construira plus d\u2019autos \u00e0 essence, un jour (\u00e0 moins bien s\u00fbr d\u2019une esp\u00e8ce de catastrophe qui mettrait fait \u00e0 toute forme d\u2019industrialisation.<\/p>\n<p>La seconde est d\u2019ordre \u00e9conomique. Elle est fournie par la SAE, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des ing\u00e9nieurs am\u00e9ricains de l\u2019automobile, qui pr\u00eachent un peu pour leur paroisse, il faut le dire.<\/p>\n<p>Selon la SAE, donc, malgr\u00e9 l&#8217;engouement pour les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, il leur reste plusieurs d\u00e9fis \u00e0 relever. Le co\u00fbt des syst\u00e8mes de propulsion \u00e9lectrique est encore significativement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que celui des groupes motopropulseurs \u00e0 combustion interne. Le co\u00fbt moyen est d\u2019environ 13 500 $US pour un groupe \u00e9lectrique contre 7100 $US pour un groupe \u00e0 essence. De plus, aux \u00c9tats-Unis, on pense que le d\u00e9ploiement des infrastructures de recharge, malgr\u00e9 une acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration r\u00e9cente, reste insuffisant pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande croissante.<\/p>\n<p>Alors que les ventes mondiales de moteurs \u00e0 essence devaient initialement diminuer de 6 \u00e0 8 % par an, elles diminuent en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 \u00e0 un rythme deux fois moins rapide. Dans les pays en d\u00e9veloppement, notamment pour certains segments comme le transport routier longue distance, le moteur \u00e0 essence devrait rester dominant pour le reste du 21e si\u00e8cle, dit la SAE.<\/p>\n<p>Les lobbys aident. L&#8217;industrie automobile am\u00e9ricaine a r\u00e9cemment b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 d&#8217;un r\u00e9pit avec la r\u00e9vision des normes d&#8217;\u00e9missions de l&#8217;EPA pour 2032. Les nouvelles r\u00e8gles sont plus souples et permettent une combinaison de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, de v\u00e9hicules hybrides rechargeables et de v\u00e9hicules hybrides, ce qui rend ces objectifs plus r\u00e9alistes.<\/p>\n<p>Cela dit, les constructeurs automobiles devront s\u2019ajuster plus t\u00f4t que tard. Selon la SAE, ils devront r\u00e9duire leurs co\u00fbts de R&amp;D et d&#8217;investissement, ainsi que l&#8217;am\u00e9lioration de l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 de leurs processus d&#8217;approvisionnement.
